My TV also turned into YouTube
Gone are the days in which I checked the TV guide to see at what time I was going to be able to watch my favourite TV show; but is also gone the fact that I used to just turn on my TV because I wanted to relax or had nothing else to do at the moment.
Internet’s culture has grown to levels that many people didn’t expect. The web trespassed the limits of computers and is now present in almost every single electronic device nowadays. And with this comes the fact that there are already 2.6 billion smartphone subscriptions globally (source: TechCrunch), out of more or less 7.3 billion people worldwide. This is huge, and it shows that people are now more connected than ever before.
Personally, I use my smartphone a lot. It’s my tool for communication with my family when I’m out, with my friends, colleagues and even teachers from my college. It’s also a tool to enjoy the content I like and discover new things. Now I don’t search in my TV for something new or stop being bored when I have the time to be so, now I just grab my smartphone and enjoy the web.
One of my favourite activities to do online is watching video content, whether it is a movie, a TV series or “short” videos, generally from YouTube. Google’s video platform is where I find myself watching music performances, silly videos, informative ones and even TV shows. Yes. I love watching the videos that for example The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon uploads almost daily. Ultimately, the content from the TV device migrated to YouTube and I can only see this trend growing. It’s not comfortable or acceptable anymore to watch an entire TV show just to be able to catch the part you are actually interested in; and that’s probably the reason why this YouTube method is so effective, even if all the content isn’t available, because we can see the single interview we’re interested in, or the section we really enjoy and care about.
And happily, I can find not only content in YouTube but also in other sites like Vimeo in which I can look amazing videos created by super talented people around the world. Or watch funny short videos in Instagram or Vine whenever I have a few minutes free.
Finally, here’s one of the videos I enjoy the most watching every time I remember about it:
